Prezi: Design Principles
What is a Prezi?
A prezi is an internet application used to create exciting and interesting presentations. It can be used for a variety of different professional uses. It can also be used for teaching, as well. This prezi includes a host of information regarding design principles. These principles of design are going to be an intricate part of your final Photoshop product and will require your understanding in order to produce a quality game design package.
Directions: Following the link at the bottom of the page, I want you all to watch this presentation, and click the arrow to move forward or backward, so you can learn about design principles. After completing the presentation, you are to answer the following questions on a separate sheet of paper. This will be worth 20 points towards your grade and will be graded based on your demonstrating your attention to the slideshow and insights about what you have already learned in this class.

1. The presentation discusses how line can actually create an emotion or feeling. Describe how a line can create feelings or emotions, and tell me what example the author of this presentation used to show line to create a certain feeling.

2. Describe ways in which you can create the feeling of safety and comfort, as well as, ways you can make a person feel on edge or uneasy. How can you apply these ideas to your own Photoshop design to enhance the overall message about your game and make the image fit your game concept.

3. By focusing on the prezi examples, tell me how movement or rhythm could be used in your design. Provide 3 detailed examples of how you could add this principle of design into your work to make it a stronger design.......Think about repetition and pattern.....
4. What is emphasis? Is it important for us to create emphasis in our final Photoshop Design? If so why?
5. What happened when the dark text was put against the dark background?
6. Did this help you to see the letters or hurt your ability?
7. The book was a lot easier to see, because of more contrast. The book was white the background was black. This made the book stand out more. Why is understanding contrast important to your design? Give three examples of how you can use contrast to make your design better.

9. Do you remember our first design? I asked you to create something on Photoshop and I wanted you to create the illusion of space? Why is space or depth so important to a design?
10. If you were creating an epic game, something with a large world, would you want to create a design that has vast depth? If so, explain why? How will space/depth affect the message your game cover promotes?
Extra credit: 12 pts: If you complete all the questions in full, than you can earn 12 extra credit points!
