Art Club: Aloha Artistes

Aloha to all who have shared interest in the Art Club for KHS 2013!

For those of you who don't know me I am Mr. Morton, or if being were a club you can also call me Mister jeff, or El Jefe, but that one has to be kept top secret.

I am an Oil Painter and Art Historian, and love Modern art, Architecture, philosophy, physics, Music, Words for Free, Psychology, Angry Birds, Existentialism and anything that is mysterious or cool. Here is a link to my Portfolio although it is just a small percentage of my work http://www.behance.net/gallery/Jeff-Morton-Portfolio/3846091 , I have not been the best when it comes to archiving my art, so to all aspiring artists, make sure to keep your work safe and document and save it, you will be glad you did.

Ms. Floyd is stepping aside as the advisor this year and I am going to keep the ship moving forward, assuming I have a crew to take the helm.

TUES- THURS 1:50-230 - FREE STUDIO HOURS (most days I will be here a little later than that)

As far as our agenda, I want to give you guys all the freedom I can to decide how we can make an impact through our talents. I plan to be doing my art during these hours and so I can help people hone skills if they want to.
These are some ideas I had in mind, but again you guys can steer the ship and I am completely open-minded to any and all ideas, I am along for the ride:
--Proposing to make a permanent installation piece.
--Making prints and selling them at different High School Events (Sporting, Celebration of the Arts, M&M night, Vocademics, or other various events outside of the school). This fund raising could go very far in improving our schools Fine arts program and trust when I say we could use the money.

-- Planning, possibly through Ms. Floyd to have a professional gala. I have several places I have talked with and if we can produce a line of work we could have an opening.

-- Maybe a Mural (I have a location where I want to do a mural) on-campus, near the studio.

-- I also have access to an apparel company who will print us T-shirts for wholesale prices I wanted to print a few and try and sell them to raise money for the Fine Arts Program. If you have a design, I have a few blanks and we can make some custom shirts for Mad Surf Media. For About $10 bucks we could all get a shirt that we customize to our liking. Totally optional of course.

-- Another pretty awesome project I am looking at is building a firebrick Kiln near the Arts and Robotics room. This will allow us to make ceramics and sculpture in Raku, and other more experimental ways. This project would show a lot of ambition and would be great for a resume. Again these are just ideas and I dont want anyone to feel pressured. This is all for fun and exploration.

If for some reason you decide you don't want to be in the club, can you let me know ASAP. I have about 12 students now, which is great, but I would like to know how many we are working with. If you guys are all on board then great I will try and set up a time and I will bring some pizza!!! Also if others may want to join, please get me their info so I can include them in the updates.

Shout outs: Thanx to Kayla for taking a leadership role, in helping to keep the art club alive, and also anyone else who was part of the organizing phase.
